Verizon VZ Navigator vs Garmin Nuvi 260?
A trip to Palestine to North Carolina was disrupted yesterday, thanks to Verizon's VZ Navigator. All while driving through West Virginia, I joined a non-digital coverage area in my VZ phone and navigation could not find my way. I was completely lost from I am relying solely on the VZ NAV. When it happened I was in a broad sense open to exploitation .. Satalite blocking anything, I thought as my phone was the battery life, GPS Satalite read her. I got back a few miles til I have in the digital coverage area again and just used VZ Nav to go home. About an hour later, I went and bought a Garmin nuvi 260 can compensate for VZ Nav. My question is, once some kind of problem like this with my Garmin and will work anywhere in 48 states with a clear view of the sky?
Gee, thanks for sharing your experience with VZ Navigator. I was not aware of its limitations. Al apparently only uses cell tower triangulation instead of GPS real, and needs a digital cell signal. Good to know. In any case, your Garmin will work anywhere as long as you have a good view of the satellites. GPS is global, hence the name Global Positioning System. For good measure the Garmin. Now you have a more reliable navigation and will not have to run down the battery of your mobile phone just to surf.
